The 2014 Herb Green Education Forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Plainfield Public Library. Dr. Arnold Glass, professor of psychology at Rutgers University, will present "Why Experimental Research Matters: The Role of Feedback in Instruction."
The Plainfield Board of Education has been invited to this very important discussion, and we urge Plainfield teachers, administrators, public officials, parents, other educators, and anyone else concerned with our youngsters' futures to attend. The event is free and open to everyone in the area.
A former resident of Plainfield, Dr. Glass was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Oslo in Norway, and a visiting scientist at the Applied Psychology Unit of Cambridge University in England. He has published numerous articles in such scholarly journals as Experimental Psychology, and he authored the textbook Cognition. Dr. Glass, an avid Scarlet Knights fan and self-described "expert on football," was a popular presenter at the inaugural Herb Green Education Forum in 2013. According to Rutgers University, "His recent work is developing instructional methods consistent with how the brain creates long-term memories."
The Herb Green Education Forum was founded to honor the late Herb Green, two-time LWV President and passionate advocate for education. The Plainfield Public Library is located at 800 Park Avenue, at the corner of West Eighth Street. The library asks those attending programs to park in the lot behind the building, closer to Ninth Street, or on the street.
