The Third Annual Herb Green Education Forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, will be held this Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 7:30 pm at the Plainfield Public Library. Ms. Melissa Logan, a dual-language teacher at Jefferson Elementary School, will present “Bilingual Education in the Elementary Classroom.”
The presentation will focus on the questions below, and a Q & A session will follow:
- What is bilingual education?
- How does it work?
- What does bilingual education look like in Plainfield?
- How is bilingual education funded?
- Who qualifies for bilingual education?
The entire Plainfield community is invited to this very important discussion, and we urge Plainfield teachers, administrators, public officials, parents, other educators, and anyone else concerned with our youngsters’ futures to attend. The event is free and open to everyone in the area.
The Plainfield Public Library is located at 800 Park Avenue, at the corner of West Eighth Street. The library asks those attending programs to park in the lot behind the building, closer to Ninth Street, or on the street.
The Herb Green Education Forum was founded to honor the late Herb Green, two-time LWV President and passionate advocate for education. Locally, he served on the Board of Education, was the founder of QUEST (Queen City Education Study Team), and he read weekly to the children at Clinton Elementary School.
